Artist Charles Pachter’s home, studio, and galleries, Pachter Hall and Moose Factory, in Toronto’s Chinatown district, bring art and architecture together in a dynamic and harmonious combination. Designed by Stephen Teeple, principal of Teeple Architects, Pachter Hall comprises three horizontal, stacked boxes, with floor-to-ceiling windows revealing the art and life that goes on within. A courtyard connects Moose Factory to Pachter Hall, and unifies the two buildings, creating a surprising showplace for creativity in the midst of a rather staid neighborhood of Victorian buildings. Pachter Hall has received an Ontario Association of Architects Award of Excellence, a Plachta Award, and the Design Exchange Award.
