This home was designed for a family that was struggling with the adverse health effects of an old home with limited natural light and mold issues due to poor site drainage. As a result, our mission was to design and build a sensible, affordable home whose primary mission was to provide a healthy interior environment.
This Jessie Street Residence became another one of our studies in healthy design, simplicity, and budget restraint. From the outside in, each material and construction technique was vetted and combined to minimize mold, mildew, and other respiratory contaminates.
Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), low or no VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) materials, advanced air-conditioning and dehumidification systems, and ample daylighting all helped contribute to a bright and clean home atmosphere.
We thoroughly enjoyed the design challenge of ICF and loved what it had to offer for this house.
