A young family with a love of modern design approached the architect, Winn Wittman, with a limited budget. They had a lovely corner lot in Rollingwood and loved clean lines and pristine white boxes. The “mama” also was an amateur race-car driver, and needed space for her race cars, as well as the family’s daily drivers.

The corner lot provided the option of vehicles on one street and pedestrians on the other. The client also wanted a swimming pool, to be visible and accessible from the double-height living area.

Finishes and furnishings were simple yet bold, with racing colors of white, red blue and black.

A window in the garages presents a view of the race car from the dining room at night, when the lights are on.

And the palette of materials included stucco, black metal and cedar soffits. The home is a grounded vessel for high-speed family life.
