On a Pedestal

Mid-century furniture design in America and Europe was heavily influenced by a particular shape: glorious trumpet-like pedestals that would liquefy tables and create sultry silhouettes for chairs. As made famous by Eero Saarinen, Finnish American architect and industrial designer noted for his neofuturistic style, the pedestal is style very much en vogue.

HOW TO STYLE: These pieces make a bold, is retro-modern statement. Tables and chairs in white, marble tops and stools with heavy knits are reminiscent of very groovy rooms, while still setting a mood of a futuristic era. Our favorite rooms incorporate pieces from different eras for an eclectic feel.
